The success of the Lindsay Lightningbolts Swim Club (LLSC) is fueled by the energy and commitment of our amazing swim families.

To help our club run smoothly and maintain good standing locally, regionally, and with the Ontario Swim community —at swim meets, fundraising events, and team & regional activities—each swimmer’s family/guardian is expected to complete a set number of volunteer hours during the season.

Questions about the volunteer program?  Contact us here: lightningbolts.volunteers@gmail.com

📋 Mandatory Volunteer Hour Requirements

Program Required Hours
Red Fish / Blue Fish   1 hour
Bronze 3 hours
Silver 5 hours
Gold 10 hours

Note: Volunteer hours are tracked per account, based on the highest-level swimmer in your household. For example, if you have swimmers in both, the Bronze and Gold programs, you'll have to complete 10 mandatory volunteers hours.

💸 Unfulfilled Hours

If your family does not complete the required volunteer hours by the end of the season, your account will be invoiced and charged:

$50 per hour of unfulfilled volunteer time (this is subject to change seasonally with Board of Director approval).

This policy ensures the work of supporting our swimmers is shared fairly across the Lightningbolts Community.

💰 Volunteer Hour Buy-Out Option

If your family is unable or chooses not to complete volunteer hours, you may opt to buy out the required hours.

To do this:

  1. Submit the Volunteer Hours Form as usual.

  2. In the form, select the “Buy-Out” option for the activity and detail how many hours you'd like to buy-out.

  3. Your swim account will be invoiced at $50 per unfulfilled hour.

This option allows families to fulfill their club requirement financially instead of through volunteer participation.

Buy-out charges are applied soon after your buy-out claim is submitted.

💡 Ways to Earn Volunteer Hours

Help out while having fun! Here are some of the ways to get involved:

1. Become a Swim Meet Official

Work on deck and be part of the action! ✔ Great way to stay involved instead of sitting in the stands
✔ Clinics available online and in-person 🌐 Visit the BECOME A SWIM OFFICIAL page!

2. Join the Board of Directors

We’re always looking for engaged parents to join the Board (based on position availability). 📧 Interested? Check out our CLUB CONTACTS page!

3. Help at Club Events

Opportunities include:

  • Swim-a-Thon

  • Holiday Parties & Banquets

  • Mini Inner-Club Meets

4. Chaperone Swim Meets

We need 2–4 volunteers to chaperone events like Huronia Long Course Regionals in June.

5. Watch Your Email!

Volunteer calls go out all season—keep an eye on your inbox.
